FAQ
What does the quotation include?
The quote is fully inclusive of design, laser cutting, all fabrication, hinges, etc. and fitting. We use standard locks and bolts; any extras such as specialised locking systems need to be discussed.
Can I expect to receive design ideas before committing to the project?
We request a 25% deposit before beginning any design work. This deposit covers initial efforts and solidifies our mutual commitment to the project. Upon receiving the deposit, Caroline will share rough design concepts for your review. We'll work together until you're completely satisfied with the design concept.
You will then receive a sign of version of the design before production commences and the next payment of 50% is due.
How long will my gate take?
Typically, the process from start to finish takes around one month. However, please note that there are various processes to go through and unforeseen circumstances like load shedding can alter the time line. We will keep you updated throughout the process.
Will the gates be strong enough?
Our gates are engineered to be sturdy and robust providing the security you need.
Will they be baboon-proof?
Yes, typically baboon proof gate designs incorporate gaps no larger than 80 cm or you can let us know your preference.
Will they be protected from rust?
All our gates undergo galvanisation, followed by a top coat of epoxy powder coating or paint and primer. Ensuring durability and protection against rust, especially in coastal environments where corrosion is more prevalent.
Do we need extra protection if we live in coastal areas?
Yes, living near the sea exposes metal structures to harsher conditions. For added protection, we recommend Jotin marine primer and top coat. Not only does this provide enhanced resistance to saltwater corrosion, but it also simplifies maintenance.
Can you work off my drawings and sketches?
Yes...simple doodles welcome. While we welcome inspiration from various sources, we specialize in crafting original and personalised designs. Your input is integral to the creative process, and we're committed to creating something truly one-of-a-kind that reflects your style and preferences.
What exactly is Galvanising, Zinc Eletroplating and Epoxy powder coating ? Galvanizing: Galvanizing is a process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron to prevent corrosion. It's achieved through either hot-dip galvanizing. In hot-dip galvanizing, steel is submerged in molten zinc, forming a metallurgically bonded coating. This zinc layer acts as a sacrificial anode, corroding preferentially to protect the underlying steel substrate from oxidation. Epoxy Powder Coating: Epoxy powder coating is a dry finishing process where a thermosetting epoxy powder is applied to a metal surface electrostatically and then cured under heat to form a tough, protective layer. The powder consists of a mixture of epoxy resin, curing agents, pigments, and additives. During curing, the powder melts and chemically reacts to form cross-linked bonds, creating a highly durable coating with excellent corrosion resistance, chemical resistance, and mechanical properties. Zinc Electroplating: Zinc electroplating is a surface finishing process where a thin layer of zinc is electrodeposited onto a metal substrate. It involves immersing the metal substrate in a solution containing zinc ions and passing an electric current through it. The zinc ions are reduced at the cathode (metal substrate), depositing zinc atoms onto the surface. This forms a uniform, adherent zinc coating that provides corrosion protection, enhanced conductivity, and decorative appeal. Suitable mainly for indoor decorative metal.
