My Special Me

Moving Hands Theatre received funding to research very young children's response to drug taking and created a short scenarios that focused on the use of addictive substances. These presentations were followed by discussion during which we recorded the children's responses. To further explore these responses we interacted with the children in a range of imaginative plotted situations.

From this research we developed My Special Me, a performance where a puppet makes all the wrong choices in response to being unhappy.

In follow up exercises aided by lots of pictures, we share and discuss the story and help them to develop the emotional literacy to recognise and acknowledge feelings. This is fundamental to making positive choices.

My Special Me is a 2 person production, highly visual and very entertaining, involving drama for the nursery age. The children can totally identify with the character and there is lots of scope for discussion afterwards. The performance is followed by a workshop.

When it comes to her turn she panics and steals Joshes huge beach ball and gets caught red handed ...
